Historic Gully Lodge Available For Short Or Long Term Rental Built in 1935 from hand hewn timbers of 7 post and beam barns, the Gully Lodge was the main operation center for the "new" Suicide Six ski area in Woodstock (South Pomfret),Vermont. It served as the main lodge (and summer home in the off season) until 1955 when Suicide Six installed new lift equipment and a new lodge on the other side of the hill. The Gully Lodge has been maintained as a private residence by the original family owners with efort and care to keep it as close as possible to the original historic layout. One feels the history the moment you step through the door. You can easily imagine sipping hot chocolate while warming up by the large stone fireplace which is the focal point of the "big room." It is a bit like a living museum of the history of skiing in Woodstock. The Gully Lodge is at the end of the road and in the middle of hundreds of acres of open land dedicated to recreation and agriculture . It sits on Suicide Six's ever popular Gully Run and you truly can ski in and ski out from the front door. The Gully also hosts a section of the VAST trail system which provides immediate access to hundreds of miles of trails for snow mobiles, x-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. Despite its rural privacy, it is only 3 miles to the amenities and activities of Woodstock. Both I-91 and I-89 are @ 14 miles away and you can be at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire in a half an hour. The Gully Lodge is filled to the brim with old Vermont charm; yet, high speed internet access, satellite TV and a whole house generator offer some modern conveniences.
